Biography
Dr. Ardhendu Chakraborty, a resident of Tripura, holds B.Sc. (Agriculture) from Tripura University; M.Sc. (Agricultural Entomology) from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) and Ph.D. from Visva Bharati (Central University), with first-class honors in each degree course and also cleared NET (ASRB) successfully. Since 2014, Dr. Chakraborty has been serving as a Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Protection) at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Khowai, Tripura. His previous roles include Assistant Professor of Agricultural Entomology at PGP College of Agricultural Sciences, affiliated with Tamil Nadu Agricultural University and Stored Grain Pest Research Fellow at IICPT, MoFPI, Government of India, Tamil Nadu.\r\nHis career, marked by over a decade of teaching, research and extension, includes prestigious accolades such as the Best Young Scientist Award (2018), the Best Post Graduate Thesis Award (2018) and the Best Extension Professional Award (2019) and as a group approach KVK Khowai conferred with prestigious ICAR-Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Rashtriya Krishi Vigyan Protshahan Puraskar (2018). Dr. Chakraborty has demonstrated extensive field experience, covering 232 hectares area through 278 demonstrations during 2021-2023 as he is having DGCA approved Drone Pilot License. Dr. Chakraborty has been instrumental in the agricultural community, organizing 144 training programs for nearly 2,786 farmers, farm women and rural youths. His research portfolio includes 24 On-Farm Testing and 94 Front Line Demonstrations, focusing on eco-friendly pest management technologies. As an external examiner and question paper setter for various undergraduate courses, he has demonstrated his commitment to academic rigor. A prolific researcher and inventor, Dr. Chakraborty has contributed 25 research papers, 23 research abstracts, 17 popular articles, 5 training manuals, 32 extension bulletins, 1 policy paper and 4 books to the academic community. He is also life and fellow members of many professional societies. His innovative work includes the invention of an “AI-based insect detection and notification device, for which he has received 1 approved Patents. His leadership extends to managing 5 externally funded projects and validating 5 IPM technologies for statewide adoption. Dr. Chakraborty’s active involvement in scholarly publishing is evident in his role as Managing Editor of the peer-reviewed international journals \"Innovative Farming\" and \"Plant Health Archives\". His contributions to agricultural infrastructure include establishing an Apiary Unit, Agriclinic, Biocontrol Laboratory, Biopesticide production unit and a Processed & Value Addition Centre at KVK, generating Rs. 8 lakhs in revenues per year. \r\nWith research interests spanning Integrated Pest Management (IPM), Stored Grain Pest and Host Plant Resistance, Dr. Chakraborty has attended 17 national and 5 international conferences and organized 4 international conferences, 4 workshops and 2 farmers’ seminars as convener. He possesses immense potential to excel manifold if provided with the right platform. His career reflects a profound commitment to advancing agricultural science, supporting the farming community and nurturing future generations of scholars.\r\n
